Magical Items

Welcome to my collection of magic items. Over the years I have DMed many games and find I get the most enjoyment out of creating bad ass magic items for my players. I have been known to be what some would call a harsh DM over the years and most of my items take just as much as they give to the players. I don't do this to be mean or a jerk or whatever, I do it because it is much more fun to have some unexpected consequences from using that new shiny sword you just found in the depths of the latest dungeon you plundered. So without further ado I present you some of my favorite items I have crafted through the years.

The Sword of Higher Expectations
This sword was forged by a great blacksmith for his son upon finding out said son had been accepted to a military training school. The smith was overwhelmed with joy and began a strict training regiment with his son in the weeks leading up to his departure. With expectations high the son left for school with his newly forged sword slung behind his back. Unfortunately he was not cut out for a military career and was dropped from the training school in less then a month. Ashamed of himself the son threw the sword his father had made into the river and disappeared into the woods, never to be seen again.

The Sword of Higher Expectations acts as a longsword for combat purposes. All the emotions of the blacksmith that forged the sword flowed like magical energy into it during its creation. This has caused the sword to come to expect perfect results from its wielder. Anytime some one uses the sword and connects with a hit they are rewarded with an extra 1D6 worth of damage. If the user should miss their to-hit roll however, the sword will shock them through the pommel. This shock does not injure the player but immediately makes them feel bad about missing their attack. This feeling of failure gives the player a -1 to hit on their next attack roll. Should the player miss again they will feel worse and receive an additional -1 to hit on the next attack. This penalty will continue to stack with each miss until the player connects with an attack. For every -1 to attack that they player suffers because of the sword they will receive an additional +1D6 to their damage when they finally do land an attack. This extra damage is rewarded by the sword as incentive to not screw up again.
